Interior RA
by Didone Comacchio Architects

Interior RA is an interior refurbishment designed and conducted by the Italian office Didonè Comacchio Architects.

Didonè Comacchio is a design firm based in Vicenza, Italy, that works at different scales of the architectural practice with a particular interest towards material and sensorial experimentation

The aim of the project was to create a spatial hierarchy in the apartment located at the fifth floor of a building in the centre of Bassano del Grappa.

Developed for a young and dynamic couple with a refined taste.

Bassano del Grappa is a city in the region of Veneto, in northern Italy, well known for being the site of the Battle of Bassano during the French Revolutionary Wars.

The original space appeared large and empty with an irregular roof and the bulky presence of the elevator.

That gives direct access to the living area.

The apartment, nevertheless, benefits from beautiful views of the city centre, Monte Grappa and Asiago’s plateau.

Monte Grappa (1.775 m) is a mountain of the Venetian Prealps. It lies between the Venetian plain and the central alpine areas.

The apartment is functionally rationalised with the use of a few but refined materials.

Two elements in the living area regulate the flow: a wooden divider and the large kitchen counter.

That allows a glimpse of the elevator while defining the entrance area and the proportions of the dining room.

The size, shape and arrangement of the latter dictate the rhythms of the kitchen.

For the architects, without creating real physical barriers, the spaces appear clear and recognisable.
