Fill this form to have the opportunity to join the New Generations platform: submissions will be reviewed on a daily-basis, and the most innovative practices will have the chance to be part of the media's coverage and participate in our cultural agenda, including events, research projects, workshops, exhibitions and publications.
New Generations is a European platform that investigates the changes in the architectural profession ever since the economic crisis of 2008. We analyse the most innovative emerging practices at the European level, providing a new space for the exchange of knowledge and confrontation, theory, and production.
Since 2013, we have involved more than 3.000 practices from more than 50 countries in our cultural agenda, such as festivals, exhibitions, open calls, video-interviews, workshops, and experimental formats. We aim to offer a unique space where emerging architects could meet, exchange ideas, get inspired, and collaborate.

Can we imagine a city built entirely from what already exists—where every material is given a second life and waste no longer exists? Estetica del Riuso is a collective project born to spark a cultural shift around the reuse of recovered materials in the construction sector.
Estetica del Riuso aims to bridge that gap by making visible—and desirable—an urban future where reuse becomes the standard practice. The project envisions a practice-oriented learning community, capable of weaving together hybrid knowledge, participatory governance models, and the exchange of expertise between local actors and European institutions. Starting in Rome, the initiative seeks to develop tools and strategies that can be replicated at larger scales, contributing to an international debate on how reuse can reshape our cities and our collective imagination.
Join us in Rome - Programme
The program will take place this October, November, and December at the Ex Mattatoio (Largo Giovanni Battista Marzi, 10), bringing together public conferences, hands-on workshops, and complementary initiatives. Inscription both to the first workshop and public activities are now open.
Workshop 2, Normative e Cataloghi (November 25, 26, 27 - Ex Mattatoio)
Open to students, recent graduates, and professionals from all disciplines, in this session, we will explore the concept of the inventory as a tool for understanding, organising, and reactivating materials. Through selected examples, we will look at how catalogues can make reclaimed materials visible and accessible, facilitating their reuse in both new and existing constructions. Participants will then visit the Material Workshop at Roma Tre, now filled with wood recovered from disassembled pavilions donated to the university. Together, we will begin the process of cataloguing these materials, documenting their characteristics, measurements, and condition, and developing a proposal for their organisation. This collective exercise aims to highlight the potential of what is often considered waste, inviting us to imagine new uses and future lives for these materials.
The program includes interactive exercises designed to foster exchange and set the stage for collective discussion. Led by New Generations and VIC – Vivero de Iniciativas Ciudadanas, the workshop features the participation of leading local and international experts in the field of reuse, including Iñaqui Carincero (General Secretary of Urban Agenda, Housing and Architecture, Spain), Claudia Mainardi (Fosbury Architecture, House Europe!), Saverio Massaro (PhD researcher, University of Basilicata), Luca Montuori (Roma Tre University), Stefano Converso and Milena Farina (PARC – Programma di Architettura Circolare, Roma Tre University).
Funded by the program Roma Creative 365. Cultura tutto l’anno, the workshop is free of charge but limited to 20 selected participants. If you would like to take part and connect with international experts in the reuse sector, please send a short motivation letter to general@newgenerationsweb.com by November 21.

Workshop 1, Glossario (October 14, 15, 16 - Ex Mattatoio)
Open to students, recent graduates, and professionals from all disciplines, this workshop introduces the themes of reuse and circularity in the architecture and construction industry. Together, we will explore how concepts such as reuse, transformation, and recycling shape our understanding and practices with recovered materials.
The program includes interactive exercises designed to foster exchange and set the stage for collective discussion. Led by New Generations and VIC – Vivero de Iniciativas Ciudadanas, the workshop features the participation of leading local and international experts in the field of reuse, including Rotor (Brussels), Luca Montuori (Roma Tre University), Beatriz Arranz and Gloria Gómez (UPM Heat, Madrid), Margherita Manfra, Orizzontale (Rome), and Stefano Converso and Milena Farina (PARC – Programma di Architettura Circolare, Roma Tre University), Federica Andreoni (PhD architect – Real Academia de España en Roma)
Funded by the program Roma Creative 365. Cultura tutto l’anno, the workshop is free of charge but limited to 20 selected participants. If you would like to take part and connect with international experts in the reuse sector, please send a short motivation letter to general@newgenerationsweb.com by October 8.
Public Lecture, Rotor - Olivia Noël (October 16, 18:00 - Ex Mattatoio, Aula Musmeci)
Rotor is a Brussels-based collective and non-profit organisation dedicated to advancing reuse and the circular economy in architecture, construction, and material systems.
