Fill this form to have the opportunity to join the New Generations platform: submissions will be reviewed on a daily-basis, and the most innovative practices will have the chance to be part of the media's coverage and participate in our cultural agenda, including events, research projects, workshops, exhibitions and publications.
New Generations is a European platform that investigates the changes in the architectural profession ever since the economic crisis of 2008. We analyse the most innovative emerging practices at the European level, providing a new space for the exchange of knowledge and confrontation, theory, and production.
Since 2013, we have involved more than 3.000 practices from more than 50 countries in our cultural agenda, such as festivals, exhibitions, open calls, video-interviews, workshops, and experimental formats. We aim to offer a unique space where emerging architects could meet, exchange ideas, get inspired, and collaborate.

The project comprises a double-height space transformed into an art studio for a painter.
The emphasis is on achieving a balanced color palette and serene lighting conducive to painting.
Light and materiality play essential roles in the design. The vibrant orange-red of the existing clay flooring complements the neutral tones of birch wood, brushed stainless steel, and iron.
A painting studio requires several essential features.
A large sink for washing brushes, platforms of varying heights for painting, a meticulously organized archive tailored to paper formats and art pieces, a specialised lighting system, and an isolated area to mitigate the odor of white spirits.
Each element is custom-made to meet the specific needs of the client, presenting an opportunity for unique design solutions.
The design ethos involves a dialogue with the existing structure, integrating bespoke elements and furniture that seamlessly blend with the architecture.
The lower level comprises the working space, a kitchen, and an archive. A staircase integrated with the archive leads to the mezzanine, which houses a bedroom and bathroom for occasional use. Materials such as birch wood, brushed stainless steel, and iron are prominently featured throughout the project.
Two large windows face the city, providing an ideal environment for painting in natural light.
In the absence of natural light, a precise lighting system is carefully integrated and regulated. The walls are finished with natural lime, creating a neutral environment that enhances light diffusion.
The specificity of each materials and every object designed inside the project, is what makes 'specific' the project in itself.
The windows from the facade are brought indoors, forming a new filter.
The dwelling is situated within a historical Milanese building, characterized by a defined layout and distinct character. Each element has been meticulously analysed and enhanced to offer a precise response to its context.
The project is the outcome of a close collaboration between architects and artisans throughout the construction phase, with meticulous attention to detail evident in every aspect.
A furniture piece window, made of birch wood and glass, creates a separate area for the private bedroom and bathroom on the mezzanine, ensuring isolation from painting materials and white spirits.
