Fill this form to have the opportunity to join the New Generations platform: submissions will be reviewed on a daily-basis, and the most innovative practices will have the chance to be part of the media's coverage and participate in our cultural agenda, including events, research projects, workshops, exhibitions and publications.
New Generations is a European platform that investigates the changes in the architectural profession ever since the economic crisis of 2008. We analyse the most innovative emerging practices at the European level, providing a new space for the exchange of knowledge and confrontation, theory, and production.
Since 2013, we have involved more than 300 practices from more than 20 European countries in our cultural agenda, such as festivals, exhibitions, open calls, video-interviews, workshops, and experimental formats. We aim to offer a unique space where emerging architects could meet, exchange ideas, get inspired, and collaborate.

The project, designed by fama(sss) and located in the Arganzuela district of Madrid, is the renovation of Jaime’s small and haggard apartment.
fama(sss) is a Madrid-based architecture, research and design practice founded on the verge of the 2020s.
The original apartment was compartmentalised into narrow rooms, with high ceilings, thin partitions and even thinner windows.
Permanent collaboration between the architect and the client and their shared creative process allowed a discussion on how to articulate a single domestic room without any partitions.
From the beginning, the main goal was to achieve a natural and fluid movement around agreed or spontaneous landmarks.
Originating from the speed that comes from the relations between the body and the space, rather than from the imposition of walls and doors.
Every partition was demolished, and once the original conditions were reinforced and isolated, they decided to host a central volume standing at barely two and a half meters high.
The main volume was rotated 10 degrees in order to generate different intensities around it and different connections.
A triangular platform was built above the entrance to the apartment in order to generate a threshold feeling, serving as well as a storage space.
Materiality was considered a fundamental tool to reflect the fluid and artisan character of the apartment. All the original textures on the walls and ceiling remain, except those that were panelled with plasterboards and isolation.
The scars remaining from the demolition of the partitions were painted over in white.
The inner and outer surfaces of the central volume display two kinds of white cement finishings, laying out different shades of the material.
According to the architects, now it's Jaime’s turn to continue with the project on his own.
The shower has a door that faces the bedroom and a window, whereas the access to the toilet is located in the more intimate corner of the room.
The volume articulates the quotidian rehearsal around the room while concentrating all the humid areas at the center of the apartment serving as a bathroom and as a kitchen.
