New Generations is a European platform that investigates the changes in the architectural profession ever since the economic crisis of 2008. We analyse the most innovative emerging practices at the European level, providing a new space for the exchange of knowledge and confrontation, theory, and production.
Since 2013, we have involved more than 300 practices from more than 20 European countries in our cultural agenda, such as festivals, exhibitions, open calls, video-interviews, workshops, and experimental formats. We aim to offer a unique space where emerging architects could meet, exchange ideas, get inspired, and collaborate.

Virtuous situations from the industrial past and some ideas for the 'climatic metropolis' to come (the cases of Brussels and Paris) compiles examples and projections that question the shape given to the city and territory at a moment of paradigm shift. The rapid evolution of climate change is leading to a clear state of emergency that, although still underestimated, is going to redefine the values and forms of our society and its territories. Several signs of a gradual paradigm shift have appeared and citizen voices are being raised against a social model that is at odds with the environment. In this context, the city and the territory can no longer be considered in a dissociated manner but must emancipate one another mutually in order to build a common world, one based on the reciprocity and intensification of their respective qualities. In this extremely volatile context, the act of looking towards the past and the tools of the architectural discipline can paradoxically become a bulwark against simplistic solutions for the future. Learning from ‘Virtuous situations from the industrial past’ opens up the field to new interpretations of the city’s ability to transform itself during a paradigm shift, when necessity, audacity and a form of radicality are applied.
Bio CENTRAL is a Brussels-based office focusing on architecture and urbanism founded in 2015 by Pierre Burquel, Radim Louda, Paul Mouchet and Valentin Piret. They have established a common practice around the conviction that architecture has to be shaped by the relations that it creates with its environment.
